Summary

The Relationship Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and developing good business relationships that lead to loans, deposits and other banking products offered by the Bank. The Relationship Manager must assist with the management sales and service efforts to ensure retention of existing relationships and growth of new relationships.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Negotiates, underwrites and coordinates the closing of Fund Finance credit products in compliance with the Banks lending policies and procedures.

Manage assigned portfolio of borrowing relationships, reviewing information, evaluating risk, and engaging with clients, building relationships with appropriate stakeholders. Communicate internally to recommend and execute on responses to changing situations for clients / across the portfolio broadly. Ensures that portfolio management practices meet Avidbank standards.

Assists Business Development Officers and Senior Relationship Managers in interviewing prospective applicants and requests specified information related to loan or credit application; corresponds or re-interviews applicants to resolve questions regarding application information.

Analyze markets conditions to ensure proper underwriting standards and portfolio management is being maintained.

Performs pre-qualification assessment and analysis of financial condition and risk of financing requests within framework of Bank credit culture and current economic and industry trends.

Conducts relevant due diligence interviews or calls with venture capital and Private Equity clients.

Gathers and analyzes all information necessary to present a financing request to senior management or Loan Committee for approval; meets with existing or potential customers; visiting sites of loans; negotiates loan terms and conditions.

Coordinates processing of approved loans; ensures loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to Bank lending policies; obtains sufficient information and/or documentation from customers; solves problems relative to processing and servicing of loans within his or her portfolio; approves loan disbursements in accordance with agreements.

Negotiates along with Business Development Officer or Senior Relationship Manager, underwrites and processes renewals of credit facilities.

Reviews quarterly financial reporting, borrowing bases, and compliance certificates to assess compliance with credit agreements.

Developing and demonstrating subject matter expertise within the team including market, sector and competitive trends, business models, lending models and making the group more scalable through optimizing how we conduct business and manage the portfolio.

Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Background in venture lending a plus.

  • Strong ability to lead and motivate junior staff.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and reports and when necessary, recommend appropriate actions.

Experience Required:

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree along with at least 2 years of experience.
