Position Summary:
The Audiovisual (AV) Field Engineer - II is responsible for providing technical commissioning support for AV/IT systems in the field. The position requires intermediate technical knowledge of audiovisual systems, including networking, audio and video equipment, and associated software. A key part of the job includes basic control system program editing, with remote assistance from various AV equipment manufacturers. Strong attention to detail, punctuality, good communication skills, and the ability to commission audiovisual system installations are essential.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required;
- Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- AVIXA CTS certification required.
- Must attain CompTIA A or equivalent certification within one year of starting the position.
- 4 years of experience in technical AV/IT and/or field engineering support.
- Intermediate proficiency with Windows and Apple software.
- Ability and technical knowledge to set up and color balance video displays.
- Intermediate experience with loading, testing, and editing control code and graphical user interface files, with remote assistance from AV equipment manufacturers (AMX, Crestron, Extron, QSC, etc.).
- Intermediate proficiency with programming languages such as Python, HTML, C#, or similar, along with experience with digital communication protocols like IP, RS232, RS485, and USB.
- Experience setting up and adjusting common audio and video equipment, including audio-conferencing systems.
- Intermediate experience with digital signal processors such as Biamp, BSS, Crestron, Extron, and QSC.
- Proficient in using audiovisual and IT software, hand tools, and test equipment.
- Intermediate proficiency in configuring wired and wireless TCP/IP networks.
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to travel as projects may require overnight stays, ranging from one to several nights away.
- Ability to work varying hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends, based on project schedules.
- Ability to work safely around power tools, electricity, construction hazards, and heights.
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering support and expertise to the project team, utilizing skills in engineering, equipment configuration, programming, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Work with project teams to prepare control system submittals as required.
- Load, test, and edit control code and graphical user interface files, with remote assistance as needed.
- Conduct systems testing, commissioning, and punch list preparation.
- Assist with tasks during the commissioning phase to ensure systems meet job requirements for client Final Acceptance approval.
- Ensure each system is physically complete according to contract documents.
- Identify and communicate change order opportunities to Project Leads.
- Accurately mark up field documentation and maintain job-related configuration files, code, graphic touch panel layouts, and programs.
- Assist in training new AV Field Engineers when assigned by management.
- Provide system training to clients or owners when needed.
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols.
- Attend site and department safety and coordination meetings.
- Maintain certifications and attend required training classes as directed by management.
- Strive to maintain an 80% billable/chargeable workload by providing engineering and technical services.
