Position Summary:
The Audiovisual (AV) Field Service Technician - II is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, escalating, and resolving audio, video, and control system issues for our support clients. This role requires advanced technical expertise in audiovisual systems, including networking, audio/video equipment, associated software, and control system programming. The position primarily involves on-site work at customer facilities. A strong background in electronics, computers, and audiovisual industry best practices is essential. This role demands attention to detail, punctuality, excellent communication skills, and the ability to commission audiovisual system installations.
Requirements:
- Associate degree or equivalent experience required;
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must obtain the following certifications within one year of employment:
- AVIXA CTS
- CompTIA A or equivalent
- 4 years of experience in providing technical AV/IT or field engineering support.
- Proficiency with Windows and Apple software is required.
- Knowledge and ability to set up and color balance video displays.
- Experience with loading, testing, and editing control code and graphical user interface files, with support from AV equipment manufacturers like AMX, Crestron, Extron, QSC, etc.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, HTML, C#, or similar, along with experience in digital communication protocols (IP, RS232, RS485, USB).
- Experience in setting up and adjusting common audio/video equipment and audio-conferencing systems.
- Proficient with audiovisual and IT tools, software, and test equipment.
- Skilled in configuring wired and wireless TCP/IP networks.
- Physical ability to walk, sit, lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance), stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods. Ability to work in varying environments, including hot, humid, and cold conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform repairs on integrated audiovisual systems with a focus on high-quality service.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and adjust video and audio-conferencing systems.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and adjust DSPs and audio systems.
- Retrieve, load, and troubleshoot control system code.
- Repair connectors, cables, and other system components.
- De-install and install system components and equipment.
- Document and report system repair status with detailed findings.
- Follow up on unresolved issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain and update technical bulletins for applicable equipment.
- Provide backup support as an Onsite Support Technician when needed.
- Train entry-level AV Field Service Engineers using internal and industry-specific training materials.
- Load, test, and edit control code and graphical user interface files, with remote assistance as needed.
- Accurately mark-up field documentation and maintain and archive job-related configuration files, code, and graphic touch panel layouts in a timely manner.
- Provide system training to owners or clients when required.
- Offer technical guidance to other Service Technicians to assist in skill development.
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and follow management's safety protocols.
- Attend site and department safety and coordination meetings as necessary.
- Participate in training classes and maintain certifications as required by management.
