Position Summary:

The CAD Drafter - III provides high-quality computer-aided drafting (CAD) documentation, including technical, architectural, and mechanical drawings using AutoDesk AutoCAD and/or Revit software. In this role, you will collaborate closely with designers and internal staff to create precise technical solutions for installation while mentoring and training local CAD staff. You will also coordinate with architects and assist designers in resolving architectural design issues.

Requirements:

• Education: Associate degree in technology or equivalent work experience is required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Certification:
  • Must possess an AutoDesk AutoCAD Certified User credential from a recognized training center.
  • AVIXA CTS certification is required within one year of employment.
• Experience:
  • 6 years of 2D CAD drafting experience.
  • 6 years of 3D CAD drafting experience.
  • 6 years of Revit CAD drafting experience.
• Proficiency in generating advanced technical drawings with a high level of complexity.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with engineering and field teams.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
• Ability to manage and mentor CAD staff, monitor budgets, and ensure adherence to project timelines

Responsibilities:

• Create detailed technical drawings, including notes, elevations, sections, electrical plans, and line diagrams, translating AV/IT design concepts into actionable plans.
• Generate advanced-level CAD work, including 2D and 3D drawings, Revit models, electrical conduit layouts, cable routing, and system signal flow diagrams.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop Design Development and Construction Documents from architectural layouts.
• Supervise and ensure the quality of CAD work by conducting peer reviews, updating standards, and mentoring CAD staff.
• Manage CAD budgets for projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery, and provide feedback to improve estimations.
• Coordinate drawing exchanges with architects and resolve architectural design issues in collaboration with designers.
• Establish and maintain CAD subcontractor relationships to support project needs.
• Stay current with drafting standards and best practices, providing training recommendations and updating company standards.
• Participate in vendor classes and training sessions to develop a foundational understanding of relevant products and technologies.
• Attend and actively contribute to scheduled engineering and systems meetings.
