Position Summary:
The Senior Audiovisual (AV) Project Manager is responsible for overseeing large-scale, complex AV projects, including new construction and tenant improvement initiatives ranging from $100K to $3M . This role involves managing both team and client communications while interpreting and planning each project’s scope, budget, schedule, risks, and scale. The Senior Audiovisual (AV) Project Manager ensures smooth project progression from planning through execution, commissioning, and closure.
With extensive knowledge of construction-focused project management, this individual is skilled in problem-solving, making timely decisions, and coordinating with clients, installation teams, technical personnel, and subcontractors. The Senior Audiovisual (AV) Project Manager must be an effective communicator, able to multitask and handle stressful situations while maintaining responsibility, self-motivation, and organizational excellence.
Requirements
- Associate degree or higher, preferably with a concentration in Business Administration or Project Management.
- 5 years of experience in a Project Management role within the AV/IT or related industry.
- Must attain AVIXA CTS certification within one year.
- PMP certification from PMI required.
- Proficient in Windows, MS Office, and project management software.
- Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Skilled in planning, organizing, and implementing projects to completion by a specific due date.
- Experience interpreting and creating instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills aligned with company values.
- Ability to mentor staff and help them develop design and process skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, including overnight and extended stays.
- Flexible work hours, including weekends as necessary to meet project needs.
- Ability to work in varying site conditions, including finished spaces and construction sites.
Responsibilities:
- Manage large-scale, complex AV/IT projects, both Avidex-designed and consultant-designed.
- Provide guidance, task designation, and scheduling for local project management staff.
- Serve as the primary trainer and mentor for new hires and project management staff.
- Assist the estimating team with resource estimations, including labor, logistics, material, and tools.
- Help the estimating team with site surveys as needed.
- Plan, coordinate, schedule, execute, and complete multiple projects in parallel, ensuring adherence to time, cost, and scope constraints.
- Act as the point of contact and decision maker during project execution.
- Create and manage project execution schedules, set deadlines, assign responsibility, and monitor progress.
- Oversee the implementation team for each job, assigning responsibilities and maintaining accountability.
- Ensure the implementation team has the necessary documentation, instructions, materials, and tools to execute the project.
- Prepare and update documentation throughout the project, including meeting notes, schedules, RFIs, RFCOs, change orders, punch-lists, and final acceptance forms.
- Coordinate the equipment procurement schedule with the job schedule.
- Provide troubleshooting, installation testing, and punch list generation when needed.
- Ensure all project loose ends are tied up, and system training is provided to the customer.
- Document all record set changes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, standards, and conventions.
- Mentor others to promote individual growth within the organization.
- Assist with OSHA training, compliance, and reporting.
- Attend site and safety coordination meetings as required.
- Participate in training and maintain certifications as required by management.
- Maintain a 75% billable/chargeable workload by providing project management and technical support.
