What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Welding Inspector position at AvirIT?
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welds to verify compliance with AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104, and other applicable industry standards.
- Conduct welding procedure and welder performance qualification testing to ensure compliance with company and project requirements.
- Interpret and review engineering drawings, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and procedure qualification records (PQR) to confirm adherence to specifications.
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT), such as visual testing (VT), and coordinate radiographic testing (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and liquid penetrant testing (PT) as required.
- Identify weld defects, discontinuities, and non-conformances, document findings, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Work closely with welders, engineers, and quality teams to improve welding quality, optimize processes, and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with company welding procedures and industry safety standards.
- Maintain and update welding inspection reports and quality records, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Assist in audits, training, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding quality and efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certification: Active CSWIP 3.1 certification (or) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and ASNT NDE Level - II in UT, RT, PT (Required).
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of welding inspection experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or construction.
- Knowledge of Codes & Standards: Strong understanding of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104, and other applicable industry regulations.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, P&IDs, and technical documents with precision.
- Inspection Tools: Proficiency in using fillet gauges, calipers, micrometers, hardness testers, and NDT equipment.
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify defects and ensure quality.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and collaboration with teams.
