Job Description
Directs and coordinates all Facilities contracted project work to ensure the delivery of a safe, quality project that is in compliance with local and state building codes. Coordinate the work of all 3rd party contract testing agencies representing Avista Facilities projects.
- Makes field inspections of all Facilities construction project work being performed by contractors during all phases of project execution.
- Assists contractors in planning and coordinating their work, makes field inspections of jobs prior to construction to check the feasibility of construction, and ensures safe work practices including communication of Avista’s safety expectations at all Facilities projects.
- Performs job inspections at the completion of work to assure accuracy of specification requirements, requires work to be redone when not in conformance with specifications; Reports major infractions or technical problems to the Project Manager with recommendations for corrective action.
- Verifies or redesigns construction prints on the job and makes necessary changes in materials or methods to expedite the job at hand; Adjusts maps and plans at the completion of job, indicating all changes, additions, and deletions to original plans. Ensures final As-Builts are given to drafting for the record.
- Assists in creating Avista contract construction inspection standards and procedures to best balance Company protection with cost.
- Will track and document all phases of project execution to include photographing groundwork, and wall conduit before cover, verifying 3rd party and local jurisdictional inspections have been completed. Will keep a daily progress log of all work for the project files. Will regularly update the Facilities Project Manager of any potential issues during project execution.
- Recommends changes in specifications and approves minor field changes as necessary. Works with the PM to review potential project change orders.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Commercial construction industry is required
- 3 to 5 years directly managing construction projects preferred.
- Construction inspection experience preferred.
- Applied knowledge of other trades including, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, is preferred.
- Firm knowledge of construction practices and standards, with an understanding of state, national and federal construction codes and regulations is required.
- Experience with various computer applications to include work management software, financial systems software, and project management software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with project estimating, and contract administration preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Duties are performed in both office and field environment. Travel to job sites throughout service territory with exposure to uneven terrain, traffic and weather for meetings, inspections and audits. Occasional overnight travel may be needed. May work system wide in both urban and rural locations. Generally, works independently with latitude for reviewed action or decisions.
