We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior GIS Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and a deep understanding of electric and gas utilities. This role involves managing and analyzing spatial data to support our operations, planning, and decision-making processes across many business areas.
This role will perform analysis and various tasks related to design and support of electric and gas facility editing, design, outage management, and related mobile applications, environmental, marketing, and some application development and technical analysis associated with various areas of the business.
This role will collaborate with engineering, operations, and other internal departments, and external public, private companies and government agencies. This role requires the ability to utilize and maximize the functionality provided by the GIS environment and apply new technologies as appropriate.
This role will perform complex analysis using ArcGIS and related extensions/add-ons, relational databases, and other software tools such as FME and SQL Developer. Understands and can apply the capabilities of GIS, databases, and other software to solve complex spatial relational/business problems. Able to perform assignments with minimum supervision.
- Specialized knowledge or technical background as represented by a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science, Geography, Computer Science, Mathematics, or its equivalent in technical training and experience
- A Certificate in GIS from an accredited university, and/or master’s degree in GIS, Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science, Geography, Computer Science, Mathematics, or its equivalent in technical training is preferred
- Requires five years of gas or electric utility related experience
- Advanced specialized knowledge or technical background relating to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- High level of expertise in GIS technology (e.g., specific projects, industry recognition, technical papers, course instruction, and contributions to area of specialization)
- Computer skills are necessary with special emphasis GIS-related software and Relational Database Management Systems
- GIS related certifications and professional affiliations are preferred
- Ability to occasionally travel throughout the company service territory
- Ability to perform field work in adverse conditions
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with an additional day determined by the employee and manager.
