Job Description
Responsible for evaluating and benchmarking business operations in relation to best business practices for the healthcare system and internal business objectives. Oversees the strategy of post-service functions, including ensuring the timely, accurate, and efficient completion of provider coding, hospital and provider billing and collection, cash posting, charge master maintenance, denial appeal, and underpayment recoupment. Identifies opportunities for denial avoidance and collaborates with key stakeholders, including providers and clinicians, to implement required changes to avoid future denials. Directly supervises provider coding team, nurse auditor, and revenue cycle coordinators.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, hospital administration, or related field.
- Associate degree with 10 years of relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum of five (5) years revenue cycle experience.
- Experience in healthcare billing requirements and government and private payer reimbursement methodologies.
- 3-5 years of management experience.
- Professional coding certification or obtained within eighteen (18) months of hiring or transferring into position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EPIC, an electronic health record system, including report functions.
- HFMA certification.
