POSITION PURPOSE:

The Advanced Practice Provider (“APP”) Residency Program Director maintains and manages the various functions of an effective residency program that meets regulatory requirements and provides a pathway for APP residents’ success. The APP Residency Program Director is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the clinical, educational, operational and fiscal health of the program. The APP Residency Program Director continually assess and directs a wide range of program issues including long range planning, recruiting trainees, developing projects, analyzing administrative workflow, maintaining databases, developing policies, communicating with faculty and trainees, grant writing and managing internal and external program relations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates the work of the APP residency program to achieve program goals.
  • Leads activities, clinical training, program documentation and recordkeeping for achieving and maintaining Consortium for Advanced Practice Providers (“CAPP”) Accreditation Standards.
  • Provides administrative supervision and mentorship to residents. Acts as a liaison between residents and clinic site.
  • Manages clinical practice experiences and other core program components, ensuring adherence to current practice standards, best practices, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops and oversees regularly schedules didacts.
  • Prepares and implements budgets for residency program, including monitoring and controlling expenditures within the Aviva Board - approved budget.
  • Informs residents and trainees of inter and intradepartmental policy and procedure changes with assistance from Aviva Health. Assist in residency program-level policy development and implementation.
  • Manages the evaluative processes of the trainees, program, faculty and rotations.
  • Oversees the preparation and maintenance of appropriate records and reports.
  • Participates in quality improvement processes and implements, evaluates, and maintains QI activities for the residency.
  • Collaborates with Aviva Health’s management within the Clinical Operations department to create the resident(s) schedules in alignment with the preceptor schedule availability and resident development plans.
  • Assist in grant submissions related to residency development, program expansion or support.  Assistance may include writing, proof-reading, formatting, creation and collection of required attachments and/or addendums and submission of finalized grant applications.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduated from a PA training program approved by the American Medical Association Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA), or the Commission on Accreditation for Allied Health Education for Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARCPA); or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) education, with an active Registered Nurse (RN) license and be certified in the state of Oregon as a Nurse Practitioner; or other relevant education and license.
  • Passed the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) given by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or other relevant certificating exam which qualifies for Oregon licensure.
  • Maintains an active license to practice in the state of Oregon.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a Physician Associate is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of teaching and educational experience with Physician Associates is required, at an FQHC would be preferred.
  • Experience in a health care setting; FQHC, Hospital, Residency or Medical Education preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, including oral and written comprehension and expression. Ability to proof-read and edit documents. Attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.
  • Strong experience and skills in Microsoft Office and EMRs (Athena preferred).
