POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the supervision of the Dental Manager and Dental Assistant Supervisor, the Sterilization Technician processes instruments through proper sterilization techniques as well as maintaining operatory, lab, and sterilization rooms in clean and sanitary condition, while practicing thorough infection control procedures; performs related work and supportive tasks as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Maintains proper infection control procedures; wears required personal protection equipment as per OSHA standards.
• Ensures all dental and medical instruments are sterilized to practice standards.
• Ensures spore testing is done on all sterilizers as mandated by the board of dentistry.
• Maintains operatory, lab, and sterilization rooms in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Checks, turns on/off equipment at beginning and end of day.
• Maintains a supply inventory for dental sterilization; requests supplies as indicated.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment as recommended and/or required by the manufacturer.
• Ensures that all equipment operates properly and safely; reports any condition that is of concern to supervisor.
• Maintains knowledge of and complies with OSHA requirements for the position.
• Refills water bottles.
• Attends required meetings.
• Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Follows all Aviva Health policies and procedures.
• Other details as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school graduate or equivalent education; bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to maintain and interpret various records and instructions; highly organized and able to multi-task.
• Strong customer service skills and experience; excellent oral and written communication.
• Excellent computer and keyboarding skills.
