POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the direct supervision of the Logistics Manager, this position is responsible for the maintenance, proactive and reactive, security and janitorial service of multiple facilities. The Facilities Technician I performs routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs of the internal/external facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement. Uses hand and power tools in making minor maintenance repairs.
- Maintains grounds and walkways. Keeps lawns mowed, landscape free of weeds, and walkways/parking lots clean.
- Performs basic welding, fabrication, and minor carpentry work.
- Performs preventive building maintenance duties, caulks windows and doors, repairs and replaces broken windows, hangs pictures, shelving, and whiteboards.
- Performs routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals, fixes water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains.
- Performs emergency clean-up in bathrooms, waiting rooms and outside facilities.
- Dismantles, installs, and moves furniture and assists with departmental and employee moves.
- Repairs and replaces doorknobs and/or locks, repairs door closures, patches holes in walls and performs general painting and repair work at all facilities.
- Aids officials, staff, visitors, and other employees, as necessary.
- Participates in building coverage by working evenings and weekends as required for maintenance that cannot be performed during regular business hours.
- Transports goods and equipment as needed.
- Notifies management concerning the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Logistics Coordinator, Manager, or Director.
- Helps set up and take down for outdoor events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years equivalent work experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain a Class B CDL within one (1) year from date of hire.
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal; detail oriented.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved oral or written instructions.
- Ability to operate power tools and lawn equipment.
- Current and valid Oregon driver’s license with a clean driving record.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to perform the following physical requirements:
- Remain in a stationary position 10% of the day while traveling to and from worksites.
- Move or traverse 90% of the day throughout the worksites and clinics.
- Operate equipment 65% of the day: power and hand tools, welding and fabrication equipment, landscape equipment, and other common maintenance equipment.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and accurately so others will understand; ability to interact with patients and staff clearly.
- Able to move or transport up to 70 pounds while maneuvering equipment, supplies, furniture, boxes, and other similar items.
- Work indoors in heat-controlled environment 50% of the day.
- OSHA Exposure Category – Category #1: Possible job-related exposure to blood and/or body fluids. Requires the appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- In-person work during normal business hours; periodic non-business hours and weekends.
- Travel between clinics and use of company vehicles.
