POSITION PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Specialty Clinic Manager, the PSR II Lead is responsible for guiding the daily activities of the specialty front office. This position ensures efficient and effective workflow of patients during scheduled clinic hours through joint planning and problem solving with clinic staff.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Multi-tasks in a well­ organized manner and completes assigned tasks accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
  •  Demonstrates initiative and problem-solving, using sound judgment.  Assumes additional responsibilities as needed, with minimal direction; shows initiative in assisting others.
  • Promotes positive customer relations and service to both internal and external customers by providing excellent customer service to all patients in a non-discriminatory confidential, professional, friendly manner that builds dignity for each individual person. Responds to co-workers’ needs and requests in a respectful, friendly and prompt manner. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
  • Checks for errors in patient charts, verifies demographics and financial information, and verifies continued eligibility with patients upon checking in.  Updates patient charts and computer files.
  • Maintains knowledge of registration software and the EMR and assists with training staff.
  • Aids with educating staff and patients regarding policies and procedures.
  • Accurately calculates individual patient charges for services, collects payment, and explains process.
  • Accurately and efficiently records receipt of fees in practice management system.
  • Communicates in an easy to understand, friendly and professional manner; ensures understanding and provides additional information as needed.
  • Performs general office procedures necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic.
  • Attends in-services and other required meetings, including Healthy and Safety Team; relates information from meetings to team members.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA policy and procedure.
  • Assists with onboarding new department employees.
  • Follows all Aviva Health policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent education.
  • Knowledge of Practice Management and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Knowledge of collection procedures and laws is preferred.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures; two (2) years’ clerical experience in a clinical or health care setting preferred.  Must be able to type a minimum of 40 wpm.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Experience with serving diverse groups of patients, including special needs patients.
  • Experience with interacting tactfully and with kindness with all patients, employees, and vendors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interface with the public and employees.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations, policies, and procedures.
