The purpose of the Staff Accountant position is to maintain financial records by tracking and recording transactions, updating the general ledger, preparing financial statements, reconciling bank statements, assist with audits, budget, and close processes and ensuring compliance with accounting standards (GAAP). The Staff Accountant also assists the Controller as needed.

The purpose of the Staff Accountant position is to maintain financial records by tracking and recording transactions, updating the general ledger, preparing financial statements, reconciling bank statements, assist with audits, budget, and close processes and ensuring compliance with accounting standards (GAAP). The Staff Accountant also assists the Controller as needed.
Essential Functions
- Accurately record transactions and update the general ledger.
- Verify the accuracy of financial records by reconciling bank statements and accounts.
- Help develop annual budgets and financial projections.
- Receives, researches, and resolves a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate people.
- Files, maintains, and distributes accounting documents, records, and reports.
- Assists in compiling information and preparing responses to auditors during annual audits.
- Serve as backup to payroll.
- Performs other duties as required to support the Finance Department.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
- Two or more years of experience in non-profit accounting.
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Strong work ethic and team player.
