Your Role: As the Career Counselor you will provide case management, career counseling, and follow along support to participants experiencing barriers to education and employment success. The Career Counselor will travel to different community sites for meetings with participants, regular program meetings, and community events.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct orientation and intake assessments with participants to introduce Avivo placement services and gather comprehensive information to inform individualized employment plans.
- Support participants in developing appropriate job goals consistent with their strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, and career interests.
- Assist participants with obtaining and maintaining competitive employment.
- Provide career counseling services, including by not limited to:
- Supporting participants with interest assessments and labor market research.
- Setting career goals and preparing for interviews.
- Assisting with job applications, creating or revising resumes, and advocating for participants with employers and community organizations.
- Providing job leads and coaching strategies.
- Support participants to access training opportunities.
- Train participants in employment-related topics including but not limited to Digital Literacy, Workplace Communication, Employer Expectations, and Resume Writing.
Qualifications
What You Offer:
- High School degree and 4 years of experience in a similar role OR
- Associate degree in human services or related field and 2 years of experience in a similar role OR
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field. With a BA, no additional experience is required.
- Experience and desire to work with persons of diverse cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
PREFERRED:
- Global Career Development Facilitator Certification preferred or ability to become certified.
- Two or more years of experience providing vocational/employment counseling, case management, vocational rehabilitation, supported work settings, community mental health, or chemical dependency services.
