Position Summary
Coaching Responsibilities
Avon Old Farms announces a search for an experienced candidate to serve as the Head Coach of Varsity Lacrosse. This individual will possess exceptional leadership skills, the ability to teach the game from a tactical and technical perspective, while also creating and maintaining a positive team culture. The will have ownership of the entire Lacrosse program. They will be responsible for recruiting mission appropriate players of high character, excellent lacrosse skills, and the desire to be a part of the Avon Old Farms community as well as assisting and guiding with the college placement of AOF players. Applicants should have strong communication skills and be able to inspire and motivate high school aged boys and represent the school at the highest professional standard. Depending on candidate’s background and the needs of the school, the coaching position will be aligned with either teaching or administrator responsibilities to form a full time position.
Faculty Administrator & Community
Avon Faculty & Administrators are completely immersed in the community as dorm parents, coaches, and mentors. As a result, they really know their students. Our faculty forge meaningful relationships with students through a structured mentor program, and develop an understanding of how each student best learns and what he needs to excel. Responsibilities in this area will involve either teaching or administrator duties, afternoon activity and providing residential life supervision.
Qualifications & Experience
- Ability to form effective and professional working relationships within the school community including; students, parents, administration and coaching staff. Creating a team culture and player experience which aligns with the AOF culture and community.
- Experience working within a comprehensive program that focuses on player development, recruitment, admissions and college placement.
- Understand and successfully work within the boarding school culture, community and environment always focused on the school’s mission.
- Professional presence which appropriately represents the values and mission of Avon Old Farms School.
- Previous coaching experience at premier program at the high school or college level.
- Experience and ability to recruit players that are mission appropriate for Avon Old Farms School community.
- Advocate and represent Avon Old Farms School players in the college placement process.
- Be able to successfully work either as teacher or administrator in a designated area within the school (to be determined based on candidate’s background and experience).
