What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Laborer - Ham Lake position at AVR Inc?
Our Laborers Team is key in ensuring that the equipment at our concrete plant is operating properly at all times. The weekly work schedule may consist of up to 10 hour days, with the potential for mandatory overtime on the work week (including Saturdays), depending upon business level requirements.

Specific Responsibilities of our Laborers:
- Ensure that the concrete plant and related equipment is operating properly at all times; inspect and maintain equipment for greasing and oil fluid levels; keep plant and equipment clean and free of excess material.
- Maintain proper levels of aggregates and admixtures; notify Plant Manager of impending shortages on a timely basis. Keep hoppers full of aggregates.
- Take and test concrete samples for any spec work timely and accurately, keep all required records, contact Quality Control of any problems or potential problems.
- Keep equipment and plant site neat and clean at all times; wash the outside of the plant and equipment whenever necessary; maintain plant grounds; pick up trash, etc from grounds; make sure all equipment is in its proper place.
- Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner at all times; wear all required safety equipment; follow all safety guidelines; fill out inspection reports daily; notify the Maintenance Division immediately of any potential or current safety problems.
- Learn to assist the Plant Manager in batching and other duties when necessary.
- Assist Dispatch and Plant Manager in truck/driver communications.
- Perform any miscellaneous duties requested by the plant manager, which may include, but is not limited to, cleaning up around the plant, picking up equipment or supplies, transporting company mail, training another employee, and filling in for an absent employee.
- Promote and maintain a clean work environment. Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- Knowledge of general machine maintenance such as greasing parts, adding oil, cleaning machine, and the like.
- Possess a natural analytical mindset to understand the working machines and operations processes.
- Treat customers and inspectors courteously at ALL times.
- Suggest and implement new ways to make our business better.

- Maintains order and structure to their daily schedule.
- Proven, prior experience at a ready-mix plant
- State Certified Concrete Technician CDL
Physical Demands
- Must be able to climb, push, bend and/or pull on various material handling equipment in order to inspect and repair it.
- Must pass a company pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
