As our Manager of Manufacturing for our Avionics team, you will leading our this large and successful team as we grow with a customer and quality focus! You will also support the partnership with our Structures Manufacturing team to help us grow the organization.
In this Role, you will be responsible for:
- Sets monthly shipment targets and drives the cross-functional team to achieve the goal
- Leads, oversees, plans and prioritizes department activities and resources
- Establishes goals and improvement measures within respective area(s). Safety, product, process and procedural quality are departmental performance drivers.
- Develops, deploys, and sustains effective processes to ensure maximum utilization of machine, material and people resources
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency
- Creates, monitors and improves key metrics of labor efficiency, delivery performance, and first-time quality (reducing scrap and rework).
- Develops and executes strategies that optimize the cycle time of each product in each production line
- Develops a responsive manufacturing organization with clearly defined authority, responsibility, and goals
- Responsible for supervising the engineering team, including Test and Manufacturing, to drive productivity improvements and problem-solve manufacturing issues
- Models and enforces safe work practices; ensures a consistent focus on safety
- Escalates issues as required
- Presents a competent and composed demeanor, representing the company with professionalism to all stakeholders (including but not limited to applicants, employees, contractors, vendors, and customers) to successfully advance the interests of the company
- Develops a superior workforce: Works with HR to recruit, interview, select, hire and employ an appropriate number of employees; Coaches, mentors, motivates and develops staff; Provides effective performance feedback through recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action when necessary
- Identifies training requirements and coordinates with Human Resources to provide necessary education for skills enhancement and job enrichment
- Achieves and maintains open communication between employees and management
- Responsible for modeling and leading a positive and respectful workplace environment
- Ongoing self-development and personal growth as an employee
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred)
- 5 years successful and progressive management experience in a manufacturing environment and experience in the aerospace industry strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience building a strong and positive team environment, and experience managing leaders successfully
- Demonstrated success achieving budgetary and revenue targets
- Analytic skills, particularly using Microsoft Excel to gather, manipulate and comprehend data
- Ability to listen, ask questions and make decisions quickly

- Demonstrated commitment to lifetime learning through reading, continuing education and/or acceptance of new assignments
- Self-motivated team leader with the ability to lead and sustain improvement activities; proficient with Lean concepts and the drive for continuous improvement
- Ability to troubleshoot, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Better than average written and spoken communication skills in English including but not limited to: writing professional documentation and correspondence, delivering presentations to stakeholders, and communicating clearly and effectively with business partners

- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a department and department staff members
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment; proficient in Microsoft Office software programs; ability to quickly master manufacturing applications

The target wage/salary range for this role may be within $100k - $140k plus annual bonus, depending on education and experience. We may look at a broader range for the right candidate.
