Under moderate supervision, the Manual Machinist is responsible for setting up and running manual machines.
In this Role, you will be responsible for :
- AvtechTyee uses metrics to define standards for productivity, quality, and cost. Incumbent is responsible for meeting all defined standards.
- The Manual Machinist 1 will set up and run any one of the manual machines which include but are not limited to:
- Mill
- Lathe
- Hone
- Swage
- Centerless Grinding
- Thread Roll
- Hydraulic Press
- Carbon Fiber
- Sample functions in these areas include but are not limited to:
- Use drawings and written instructions to perform routine operation of basic machines to close tolerances
- Install hardware manually using provided tools, sometime using adhesive or grease as specified by the BOM
- Hand deburr parts to drawing specifications
- Check work using prescribed gauges
- Perform self-inspection of completed work and record data as required
- Examine part for acceptability of finish
- Clean up parts, machines and premises
- Perform detailed periodic machine maintenance
- Actively suggest ideas for process improvements and cost savings (improve time, reduce waste, etc.)
- Follow all environmental health and safety policies and procedures, models safe work practices
- Responsible for contributing to and supporting a positive and respectful workplace environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll Need to Succeed:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- At least 2 years’ experience with one of the machines identified
- Experience in a machine shop environment required
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing or other highly regulated industry strongly preferred
- Experience using hand tools and precision measuring equipment
- Strong focus and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong focus on customer service
- Ability to quickly master new business knowledge and technical skills
**Must be authorized to work in the U.S. This position requires either a US Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-US person who is eligible to obtain required export authorization**
The target wage/salary range for this role may be within $24.00 - $29.00 /hr., depending on education and experience. We may look at a broader range for the right candidate.
