Drafting - Drafter

POSITION SUMMARY:    Due to increased global demand for critical power, the Designer\Modeler will play a lead role in the development of new load banks including portable, permanent and trailerized versions.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    Essential Functions: Works with Lead Project Engineer and other project team members to transform new product ideas and requirements into a prototype or pilot design Uses 3D tools such as PTC Creo to digitally prototype, increasing speed-to-market initiatives. Develop 3D design models based on concepts, sketches or previous designs to create detailed drawings, focusing on core manufacturing capabilities. Conceptualizes sheet metal design through the use of either 2 or 3D tools ensuring tolerancing requirements are met. Propose assembly and\or fabrication techniques and develop the new product’s mechanical, physical and other attributes to ensure design is manufacturable at best cost. Presents, or co-presents with Lead Project Engineer model designs for technical review or design reviews, ensuring compliance with company processes Prepare comprehensive document packages for manufacturing release, including assembly drawings, Bills-of-materials and machine files Maintain drawing revision control in accordance with Avtron document control processes     Additional Responsibilities:                                                                                                                               Provide frequent updates on projects, including timeline for completion. Adhere to all safety guidelines and promoting a proactive approach to identify and mitigate potential hazards with new product manufacturing process Live the mission, vision and values of Avtron Any other duties as assigned   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   Demonstrated experience developing and creating new products preferably in the electrical-mechanical products space Minimum 8 years of experience in related role Strong knowledge of safety protocols, quality control, and manufacturing processes Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills Experience designing to UL, CSA, NEC, and other safety agency requirements would be a plus.     EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:    Education: BS in Engineering or Computer Aided Design (CAD) preferred, Associate Degree in Engineering or CAD required. Experience in both 2D and 3D modeling software Strong communication and presentation skills, verbal and written   Experience To perform minimum position requirements satisfactorily: requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in a new product development environment for mechanical\electrical systems.        COMPUTER SKILLS: 3D CAD skills are required; PTC Creo preferred Proficiency in Excel Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
