POSITION SUMMARY:
The Material Handler Lead at Avtron Power Solutions is responsible for overseeing the smooth and efficient operation of the materials handling process. This includes supervising the pulling of orders from inventory, managing the distribution of production materials and supplies, and staging finished products for final distribution. The Material Handler Lead will also ensure accurate inventory tracking, process improvement, and safe material handling practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
Lead and supervise the daily activities of the material handling team, ensuring materials are accurately stored, tracked, and delivered to the production line.
Oversee inventory management, including the identification, labeling, and recording of materials and supplies. Report shortages and ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.
Ensure materials and supplies are pulled and verified according to production orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Coordinate the delivery of materials to work centers, ensuring the timely arrival of materials and supplies for production needs.
Supervise the staging of finished products for final distribution, ensuring that products are ready for shipment.
Maintain detailed records of materials delivered, including their location and quantities.
Assist in identifying areas for process improvements and implement strategies to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Enforce safety guidelines and ensure the proper handling and storage of materials to minimize risk and damage.
Provide guidance and training to team members, ensuring that all material handling tasks are performed according to company standards.
Perform other duties as assigned to support production goals and team objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1-3 years of experience in material handling, procurement, or a related role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
High school diploma or GED.
Skills
Strong organizational and leadership skills to supervise and guide a team effectively.
Ability to analyze and interpret information related to inventory and materials.
Excellent time management, multitasking, and prioritization abilities.
Strong process improvement mindset, focusing on efficiency and reducing waste.
Knowledge of inventory control and material handling processes.
Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
Familiarity with safety standards in a materials handling environment.
Proficiency with tools and equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
Experience
1-3 years of experience in material handling, procurement, or a related role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Previous stock or inventory experience, preferably in manufacturing.
Prior experience operating a forklift or pallet jack is required.
Leadership or supervisory experience in a material handling environment is a plus.
