AW Health Care is currently seeking a full time Billing Specialist to work onsite in our University City, MO office. This position ensures accurate and timely processing of all third-party insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, Self-Pay and special programs as well as processes denials, rebills claims, follows up with insurance, submits appeals and collects on past due accounts.
Hours: Monday-Friday from 8:00AM-4:30PM, no weekends, no holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper;
- Works directly with the insurance company, healthcare provider and patient to get a claim processed and paid;
- Answers questions from clerical staff and insurance companies;
- Follows and reports status of delinquent accounts;
- Reviews and appeals unpaid and denied claims;
- Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers;
- Participates in educational activities and attends meetings;
- Maintains strictest confidentiality;
- Verifies patients’ insurance coverage and authorizations;
- Ensures compliance with all insurance company requirements as they relate to enrollment and premium billing processes and turn-around timeframes;
- Prioritizes on the fly in an effort to continually shift to address the most pressing needs for the business;
- Organizes, investigates, and resolves issues in a timely and effective manner;
- Maintains positive attitude & professionalism with both clients & colleagues;
- Performs other task and projects, as needed;
- Works with tech personnel to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues;
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 5 years of prior medical billing
- Experience in CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (WORD and Excel)
- Familiarity with Medical Terminology
- Ability to communicate with others, including customers, in a clear, understandable and professional manner on the phone, via email and in person; and the demonstrated use of good written (ie, good grammar/spelling) and verbal communication skills
- Ability to find solutions and manage relationships across departments
- Ability to Multi-Task and prioritize with limited direction
