What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Rapid ReHousing Coordinator position at Aware, Inc.?
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Rapid ReHousing Coordinator will administer the RRH program for qualified survivors referred to AWARE.
CASE MANAGEMENT AND SERVICES
- Implement RRH Housing Program according to Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and AWARE policies.
- Identify and select qualified applicants, individuals and families experiencing homelessness, for enrollment in the RRH program.
- Source appropriate housing options for RRH applicants including establishing positive relationships with realtors and landlords.
- Help individuals and families experiencing homelessness address issues that may impede access to housing (such as credit history, arrears, and legal issues).
- Help individuals and families negotiate manageable and appropriate lease agreements with landlords.
- Make appropriate and time-limited services and supports available to families and individuals to allow them to stabilize quickly in permanent housing.
- Monitor participants’ housing stability and be available to resolve crises.
- Meet monthly with participants to review and update their housing/stability plan and budgets.
- Provide or assist the household with connection to resources that help them improve their safety and well-being and achieve their long-term goals.
- Ensure that services provided are client-directed, respectful of individuals’ right to self-determination, and voluntary.
- Coordinate with AWARE advocacy staff and Juneau’s Coordinated Entry to meet with potential applicants for AWARE’s Rapid Rehousing programming.
- Perform Housing Inspections for RRH clients with cooperating landlords.
- Ensure services/income increases to help clients remain housed, and able to sustain their own residence after program ends.
- Coordinate with AWARE Housing Navigator and other internal and external partners
REPORTING
- Perform record-keeping activities associated with program participant contact or as required for data collection or inter-staff communication.
- Track all grant responsibilities- file maintenance, allowable costs, program regulations- and ensure compliance
- Responsible for forecasting with finance department to ensure grant spend-out on a yearly basis.
OTHER STAFF TASKS:
- Meet regularly with supervisor for supervision and support.
- Attend meetings and staff trainings as scheduled.
- Report cases of suspected abuse or neglect of children or vulnerable adults to the Alaska Office of Children’s Services or Adult Protective Services, and the Juneau Police Department as required.
- Comply with AWARE Personnel and Administrative Policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Must pass AWARE background check.
- Must have high school diploma/GED. College level study or experience in social work, women’s studies, housing options, or related field is desirable.
- Must have or acquire CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have a thorough understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault and the needs of victims or the willingness to learn.
- Must have excellent written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to remain objective and to perform under stressful conditions.
- Must have the ability to represent AWARE professionally in court and with other community partners.
- Must have the ability to understand and communicate with people of different socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
- Must maintain confidentiality.
- Must support AWARE’s Philosophy: A commitment to providing options and alternatives for adult and child victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
SALARY AND HOURS:
DOE. This position is temporary, ending on June 30, 2025, and is not eligible for benefits.
25-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday (usual 8am-4pm, some nights/weekends).
