What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at AWC MSO?
Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers in delivering patient care services in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are properly stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, and other relevant patient information.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients throughout their visit.
- Assist with various procedures, including but not limited to abortion procedures, contraception counseling, and pregnancy testing.
- Perform laboratory tests and handle specimens as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized clinical environment.
- Adhere to all relevant legal, ethical, and professional standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
- Previous experience in a clinical or healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of reproductive health, family planning, and abortion services is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced and sometimes emotionally challenging environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing clinic needs and schedules.
- Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
