Job Description:
AWH is now hiring an Assistant Transportation Manager in our Whitestown Facility.
Shift: 8am-8pm
Base Salary: $70,000
You will:
- Oversees transportation personnel and delegates responsibilities to ensure efficient operations.
- Ensures timely and accurate completion of deliveries, pickups, and other transportation activities to meet AWH and client requirements.
- Manages transportation operations efficiently, ensuring all expenses remain within the assigned budget while optimizing resources and maintaining service quality.
- Oversees site transportation vendors, including sourcing and managing vendor relationships.
- Ensure all drivers adhere to DOT regulations and compliance requirements and assist in maintaining DOT files.
- Promotes a healthy and positive workplace environment by encouraging teamwork, open communication, and a culture of respect, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the transportation team provides excellent internal and external customer service.
- Oversee human resource functions for the transportation team, including new hire orientation, training, performance evaluations, coaching, hiring, and terminations.
- Oversees service providers to ensure compliance with delivery performance standards, operational practices, and contractual agreements.
· Adheres to safety and security protocols, follows company policies, and ensures compliance with required safety goals.
- Communicate with the Transportation Manager and the Operations Team regarding any special, late or missing pickups.
- Coordinates with operations to ensure that all trucks are dispatched on time and ensures that all transportation tasks are completed
- Oversee and optimize the management of fleet assets, ensuring proper utilization, maintenance, and lifecycle tracking to maximize efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Utilizes Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to plan, track, and optimize routes, ensuring cost-effective and timely deliveries.
- Uses Samsara for real-time vehicle tracking, route monitoring, driver performance analytics, and compliance reporting.
· Assists in quality control with OS&D, scanning, and delivery/pick-up procedures.
- Utilizes required mobile applications, including Samsara and LDS applications, to support operational and compliance needs.
As Assistant Transportation Manager, you have:
- Must be at least 21 years old with a valid license.
- Two years of transportation/fleet experience, including route delivery, customer processing, and security procedures.
- Two years of management experience, including employee relations, hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Proficiency in computer systems and data analytics to support operational efficiency and decision-making.
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with customers, coworkers, and all organizational levels.
- Ability to manage DOT compliance, read maps, follow directions, and lift 50 lbs. with or without accommodations.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, or shift changes with little notice.
- Must have conversational proficiency in English to follow safety and operational instructions.
