Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Material Handler to join our team in a fast-paced distribution center environment. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the efficient handling of materials, ensuring that products are loaded, unloaded, and stored correctly. This position requires a strong understanding of warehouse operations and safety protocols, as well as the ability to operate various equipment safely.
Duties
- Operate material handling equipment such as clamp trucks and order pickers to move products within the warehouse.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers while adhering to safety standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies at all times.
- Assist in organizing the warehouse layout for optimal efficiency and accessibility.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to streamline operations and improve productivity.
- Perform routine inspections on equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any mechanical issues.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills related to materials handling and warehouse management.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment is preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge is a plus, especially related to material handling equipment.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety practices in a warehouse setting.
- Ability to operate cranes or similar equipment safely is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to lift heavy loads and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
