About Us
Founded in 2021, Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) is a nonprofit, four-year MD program that will enhance traditional medical education with the arts, humanities, and whole health principles. The school’s culture embraces self-care to empower students to care for their own well-being as well as their patients’. The school’s state-of-the-art medical education facility is under construction in Bentonville, Arkansas on the Crystal Bridges campus, home to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and Heartland Whole Health Institute. The school has been granted preliminary accreditation status by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.

About The Position
The Associate Dean for Accreditation reports to the Executive Vice Dean of the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) and is responsible for leading and managing the accreditation process for the school, including preparing and submitting documents and ensuring compliance with LCME and HLC standards. Additionally, this position requires leading a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Program, collaborating with various stakeholders and managing institutional policies while aligning initiatives with the mission, vision, and values of AWSOM.
Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions Specific to The Position:
- Lead and manage all aspects of the medical school LCME (Liaison Committee on Medical Education) and HLC (Higher Learning Commission) accreditation processes including the preparation, submission, and management of accreditation documents.
- Serve as the primary institutional contact for all relevant accreditors and regulatory authorities.
- Lead and manage the self-study process by coordinating the collection of survey data and materials, synthesizing narrative responses, leading training sessions, and developing the survey visit schedule.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program to ensure accreditation compliance and enhance the quality of educational programs.
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and administrative leaders to ensure that all relevant processes and outcomes meet LCME accreditation requirements.
- Compile, analyze, and synthesize data related to accreditation and quality improvement.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and external stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of accreditation standards and CQI principles.
- Manage the institutional policy lifecycle process.
- Regularly communicate progress on accreditation and CQI initiatives to stakeholders, including preparing reports and presentations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- Minimum: Doctorate degree in education (PhD or EdD), healthcare (MD or DO), or relevant end degree
Minimum Work Experiences and Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in medical education, with significant leadership experience in accreditation, compliance, or quality improvement
- Participation in an LCME survey visit
- Robust knowledge of accreditation standards and regulatory requirements in medical education
- Experience in process improvement and project management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and ability to learn new software applications
- Strong commitment to self-care
Preferred Work Experiences and Qualifications
- Experience serving as the LCME Faculty Accreditation lead for an LCME survey visit
- Proven record of managing successful accreditation and CQI processes
- Strong editing and writing skills
- Support the mission and vision of the AWSOM
- Demonstrate strong judgment, intellectual agility, and flexibility regarding overall priorities and day-to-day tasks
