As a newly established business division of AXA XL Americas, our Middle Market segment serves the needs of mid-sized clients in the Commercial Lines P&C market. Over the next few years, the unit is looking to start with the client and strategically expand its product suite to drive profitable growth in its target segments. The Product Manager is a newly created position, which will sit within the business, and work closely across Underwriting, Product Management, Legal and Regulatory Compliance amongst other groups to help deliver on that growth. This leader will play a key role as an integral member of a dynamic Product Development growth team by creating, advising on, and managing P&C coverage development for this rapidly evolving product suite.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
  • Work in close collaboration with Product and Underwriting counterparts as well as broker partners to identify and develop products, key coverages, and endorsements that will differentiate our offering in the market within your assigned industry segments
  • Drive policy wording strategy through understanding of the competitive marketplace, preferred risk characteristics, lessons from loss trends, and competitor offerings
  • Write clear, concise, and legally binding policy language that accurately reflects the terms and conditions of insurance coverage
  • Draft manuscript endorsements, as requested, that provide needed coverage changes while maintaining the integrity of the policy form
  • Track manuscript endorsement use and partner with appropriate unit to complete individual risk filings, where necessary
  • Create strategic recommendations in support of business unit goals, marketing plans, pricing, underwriting authority changes, and product enhancements
  • Design and deliver guidance and training on policy wording issues
  • Manage external vendors and resources on specific wordings and product development engagements
  • Establish robust working relationships with cross-functional groups including Claims, Compliance, Legal and other functions to engage and collaborate on issues and emerging trends related to your aligned industry sectors
  • Represent AXA XL as a subject matter expert and thought leader at industry conferences enabling the organization to see around corners and stay ahead of industry trends and emerging risks
  • Bring an entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to lean into opportunities outside your specific areas of responsibility in support of our overall Middle Market build

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
  • Extensive commercial property & casualty insurance experience with background working closely with Underwriting, Product Management and business functions on the process of developing products, coverage forms and wordings
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Experience working closely with Regulatory and Compliance functions within a P&C insurance carrier
  • Experiencing influencing and directing work across outside units or external vendor partners
  • Understanding of the need for accurate and timely management information; effectively manages up and escalates issues that may impact business strategies or operational goals
  • Able to manage time, meet deadlines and adjust to competing priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing

The U.S. pay range for this position is USD 133,000 -2 33,000. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience, and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues’ pay.
