The Quality team is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer who will focus on improving the quality and incoming inspection of our bulk/non-bulk materials and containers. This role reports to the Site Quality Manager, collaborating with the Supply Chain team, site Quality team, Axalta global Purchasing team, and Axalta global Supplier Quality team.

The Quality team is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer who will focus on improving the quality and incoming inspection of our bulk/non-bulk materials and containers. This role reports to the Site Quality Manager, collaborating with the Supply Chain team, site Quality team, Axalta global Purchasing team, and Axalta global Supplier Quality team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the incoming quality control inspection process for bulk/non-bulk materials and containers. Monitor and report on the agreed upon metrics.
- Maintain the appropriate documents and files to align with the site QMS and IATF 16949 standards.
- Work within the site QMS and participate in the site IATF 16949 internal audits - identify and address improvement opportunities where necessary.
- Function as a liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, operations, and suppliers to resolve supplier quality & technical issues and to provide technical support.
- Assure that our suppliers understand our quality requirements. Issue supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) and coach the suppliers in 8D methodology to ensure robust corrective actions are implemented.
- Own and report out on the supplier scorecard status. Audit our suppliers and close any non-conformance findings in a timely manner.
- Support the site Quality team and participate in continuous improvement activities assigned by the site Quality Manager.
- High School diploma or GED required with Bachelor’s degree in Technical or Engineering discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years Automotive quality assurance background.
- Proven success specific to supplier quality management.
- Coatings industry alignment preferred.
- Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven success collaborating efficiently in a team environment.
- Travel required to the supplier’s site: approx. 10%.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing and lab environment.
- Experience as an ISO9001/IATF 16949 auditor.
