AXEL is a specialty polymer and coating company that produces mold release products and polymeric processing aids. At AXEL we develop next generation waterborne and environmentally friendly high slip protective coatings for numerous polymeric molding applications.
AXEL is seeking a Technical Service Engineer with thermoset composite (polyurethane, epoxy, or polyester) molding experience reporting to our Technical Director. Focusing on growing and supporting existing business. This position will involve in-house physical application testing, sales demo support and field service work. This role works closely and collaboratively with both the laboratory and the sales team to demonstrate and troubleshoot our products in various molding applications.
Key Responsibilities:
o The goal is to understand various molding techniques, methods and processes, challenges for the sales team and the customer needs.
o Work hands on in the lab to understand the application development of our products.
o Daily tasks include inside sales support, application engineering and outside sales.
o Develop multimedia product educational material.
o Provide product training and support to sales team and customers, both in-house and on location.
o Conduct customer process audits and troubleshooting
o Attend trade shows, meet with customers and look for new opportunities for our products.
o Follow all company safety policies and work safely in a laboratory and chemical production environment.
o Ability to Travel: up to 70 % of the time.
Desirable Qualifications:
· Science or Engineering background; Chemistry or Material Science, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
· 2-4 years’ experience in the polymer composite market or chemical industry (laboratory, technical service or sales).
· Bachelor’s degree or Technical Certifications preferred.
· Excellent communication skills with experience interfacing with internal (cross-functional teams) and external (customers, vendors; technical representatives, etc.) groups at all levels.
· Technical experience with composites, plastics and molding techniques (Hand Layup, Pultrusion, RTM, Open & Closed Molding, Injection Molding, Advanced Composites, 3D Printing) preferred.
· Autobody, Pool/Spa, RV, Boat Repair or fabrication highly desirable.
· Paint and coating experience.
· Video Editing or Video Production Experience
· Top notch customer service
· Marketing and Promotion Experience.
· Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Power Point, Excel and Word).
· Ability to analyze, define, and effectively convey difficult and complex issues in a way that accurately communicates the issues to leadership and internal teams.
· Can-do attitude and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
· A team-player but able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
· A problem solver, who seeks solutions.
