Patient Services Representative Job Description
The Patient Services Representative (PSR) plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for patients at our office.
Main Responsibilities:
- Greeting and checking in patients, answering phones, and documenting accurate patient information.
- Scheduling walk-in appointments, verifying patient insurance information, explaining billing procedures, collecting co-payments, deductibles, and co-insurance.
- Preparing and filing patient forms while protecting patient personal health information according to HIPAA requirements.
- Collecting patient insurance co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles, and prior balances, as well as explaining payment policy/billing procedures and patient financial responsibility.
- Maintaining accurate records, balancing daily monies and receipts, ensuring accuracy of batch summaries, and creating deposits.
- Providing exceptional customer service to patients, their family members, staff, and providers, resolving call queries promptly.
- Ensuring all insurance, personal, and health information is verified at time of service, scanning insurance cards and IDs into patient files.
- Outbound calling regarding missed appointments, follow-up messages, outreach, Medicare wellness visit scheduling, TransactRx authorizations, Arch-to-Arch, Graybill, and SCMG referrals.
- Monitoring daily scheduling, scanning the lobby for waiting patients, and following up with Back Office staff as needed.
- Straightening the lobby area to ensure a positive and professional environment for patients.
- Making recommendations to improve processes and procedures, focusing on improving patient flow, patient satisfaction, and quality.
- Managing and routing patient portal messages.
- Serving as department receptionist for outside vendors and contractors.
