The Branch Manager has overall responsibility for the management of the Capitol Glass business across Alaska. The incumbent’s mandate is to grow the business with an emphasis on quality, customer satisfaction, and profitability. The position’s primary focus is the sale of residential and commercial windows and insulated glass units through showroom, counter and outside sales, as well as through distributors outside of Anchorage. The Branch Manager will manage the sales team, engage directly in outside sales activity and manage relationships with distributors. The incumbent will also manage the Operations Lead regarding the scheduling of jobs and projects, fabrication and quality, and the administration team (including a contracted accounting resource).

In addition to reporting to the President, there will be guidance and support provided to the incumbent from the RAB Energy / Northerm Windows and Doors senior management team in Whitehorse, Yukon, including the Director of Manufacturing, and the Director of Finance.

Core Accountabilities :

  • Operational Leadership : Provide direction and leadership to the Capitol Glass team, ensuring efficient and effective day-to-day operations.
  • Sales Management : Directly engage in sales activity while providing direction, support and mentoring to the inside and outside sales team, including Capitol’s distributor network.
  • Financial Management : Develop and manage budgets, control costs, and optimize financial performance to achieve profitability targets.
  • Team Management : Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing team of 15 employees, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and safety.
  • Project Management : Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of window installation projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and budgetary constraints.
  • Quality Control : Implement quality control measures to ensure that manufacturing and installations meet industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Client Relationship Management : Ensure that sales and service teams cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery.
  • Health, Safety and Employee Wellness : Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, implementing and promoting a safety-first culture within the organization.
  • Vendor and Supplier Relations : Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiating contracts, and securing favorable terms to support operational efficiency.
  • Market Analysis : Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities, providing strategic insights to drive business growth.

Requirements :

  • Post-secondary degree / diploma, or recognized equivalent in Finance, Commerce or Business
  • Proven experience in a management role within the construction, manufacturing or installation industry, with window experience an asset
  • Track record of success in the sale of residential or commercial construction or architectural products
  • Knowledge of construction community in Anchorage and Alaska
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and leading successful teams
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial and residential installation processes and best practices
  • Demonstrated financial management skills, including budgeting and cost control
  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Perceptive listening skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail
  • Effective time management and organizational skills; can balance multiple concurrent projects and priorities
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • A collaborator, able to build and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to travel as required.
