Overview
Axient's Systems Engineering Group (SEG) has openings for a Software Development Intern for the Modeling and Simulation Development Branch in our Laurel, New Jersey Office. Approximate 10 week program.
Systems Engineering Group, Inc. (SEG) is a highly regarded provider of air and missile defense threat engineering and combat, radar, and missile systems engineering and analysis. Principal customers include the U.S. Navy, Missile Defense Agency, and Industry.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities are:
- Selected candidate will assist in the design, development, test, and verification of SEG/Axient’s missile trajectory and RF signature prediction simulations.
- The position covers the whole of the software development process, from design and implementation to testing, documentation and delivery.
- The highly dynamic and fast paced environment encourages speed and efficiency while maintaining product consistency, functionality, and traceability.
- Candidates for this position will be required to learn applicable technologies and skills and will be mentored and trained by the team as needed.
SEG provides outstanding training to grow the capacity of staff in relevant areas.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance. US citizenship is required for eligibility as per the cognizant security agency and requirements of the program(s) supported in this role.
- All candidates must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university having completed their sophomore year.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater
- Completion of sophomore year in a STEM field such as: Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Physics or Applied Math.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Familiarity with MATLAB scripting and Simulink
- Basic systems administration
- Experience working within an Agile development team
- Experience with documentation and presentations via Microsoft office products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Ability to work in small teams or groups
- Ability to work independently with help as needed
