POSITION SUMMARY:
Axiom Constructors is seeking a Quantity Take-Off Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately performing material take-offs, assisting with project estimates, and ensuring the precise calculation of materials required for concrete and other construction projects. The role plays a key part in delivering accurate cost assessments to support project proposals and ensuring that project goals are met on time and within budget. The incumbent will represent Axiom Constructors in a professional manner and contribute to maintaining the company’s strong reputation within the industry.

OBJECTIVES:
- Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to extract key material quantities for take-off and estimation.
- Perform accurate and timely take-offs for concrete and other materials for a wide variety of commercial construction projects.
- Prepare material lists and cost estimates for bids and change orders.
- Ensure that the quantity take-offs reflect the scope of work and align with the project’s goals, schedule, and budget.
- Maintain up-to-date records of quantities, materials, and associated costs to support ongoing project requirements.
- Work closely with project managers and clients to ensure that take-offs are accurate and aligned with the project’s needs.
- Identify discrepancies or inconsistencies in drawings or specifications and communicate findings to the relevant team members.
- Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to verify material quantities and ensure pricing accuracy.
- Contribute to maintaining the pricing structure in Axiom’s estimating software (e.g., gross margin percentage, labor rates).
- Support the preparation and submission of bids by providing accurate material quantities and cost estimates.
- Maintain and update a project bid calendar and daily/weekly sales report logs to track take-off progress.
- Other duties and projects assigned by the Managing Member or leadership team.
COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrated ability to accurately and efficiently perform quantity take-offs from construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to identifying discrepancies and errors.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents to extract material quantities.
- Familiarity with estimating software and construction management tools.
- Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with project managers, estimators, and clients.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain a high standard of accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of construction practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required; college degree in Construction Management or a related field is a plus.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in quantity take-off or estimating within the construction industry.
- Concrete or construction industry experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst) is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and move throughout the office or job site.
- Must have full use of hands, vision, and hearing to handle office equipment and review plans.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
- Occasional site visits to review project plans and take measurements.
