POSITION OVERVIEW: Axiom Design Build’s project Designer is responsible for developing design sets including as-builts, floor plans, elevations, and renderings at all phases of the design process. Design development should include adequate code research to ensure the company presentations represent what is buildable/feasible. Designers collaborate with Design and Creative Directors, Architects and Owners, to achieve the level of function, style and design expectations of the Company, as well as building code standards of the project location. Designers collaborate with the team to develop permit sets and drawings, and to create permit submittals and corrections.
Designers assist in managing design expectations, design-sets prior to client presentations, budget buyouts and permit submittals. Designers update drawings according to design edits, redlines, and input from Directors and clients. Designers are expected and encouraged to visit jobsites to ensure the quality of construction is being executed according to the company’s design intent, to photograph process, and to meet with Axiom’s internal team during construction to ensure best practices are being followed.
REPORTS TO: Design Director, Creative Director, Owners
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop design documents, permit sets and design presentations.
- Collaborate with Creative/Design Directors and Architects to ensure design intent and presentation quality are fulfilled.
- Manage project specifications and project details.
- Order/procure specified materials for projects based on needs of Project Manager.
- Prepare professional drawings prior to client meetings.
EXPECTED SKILLS:
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam, ArchiCad or similar AutoCAD software.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Stays up to date on current materials, vendors and design innovations.
- Excellent organizational skills to meet goals and set deadlines.
- Identifies the needs of the department and company.
- Willing to pick-up smaller duties based on workload and needs of a small business.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior design
- 1-3 years of work experience in residential design, interior design, architecture or equivalent
- Preference given to candidates with prior experience working in a design-build model
- Must pass a background check
COMPENSATION:
- Full-time hourly position, $75,000 - $85,000 per annum depending on experience
