Axios Professional Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Marine Propulsion Engineer in Grand Rapids, MI. This candidate will lead technical design of Marine propellers, working closely with our manufacturing and testing teams to optimize performance and efficiency. Candidates will utilize computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools and your expertise in hydrodynamics to solve complex engineering challenges.

Sr. Marine Propulsion Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze marine propellers using advanced CFD software and numerical methods
- Develop and validate computational models for propeller performance prediction
- Optimize propeller designs for efficiency, cavitation performance, and structural integrity
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet producibility requirements
- Lead technical reviews and provide engineering guidance to junior team members
- Analyze field performance data and customer feedback to improve future designs
- Evaluate structural design of propellers/struts/rudders utilizing FEA (ABAQUS)
- Author technical documentation and design reports
- Interface with clients to understand requirements and present technical solutions tables
Sr. Marine Propulsion Engineer Qualifications:
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience in marine propulsion system design
- Strong background in hydrodynamics and computational fluid dynamics
- Proficiency in CFD software packages (in particular Star-CCM ) and numerical analysis tools
- Experience with propeller design optimization and performance analysis
- Understanding of marine vessel operations and propulsion system integration
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong technical writing and communication abilities Equivalent
- Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or similar languages
- Experience with classification society rules and regulations (ABS, DNV, NAVSEA, etc.)
