Embedded Software Developer – Intercoms

Job Description

The Intercom team at New Business R&D is looking for a new colleague to our HQ in Lund, Sweden. Could that be you?

Who is your future team?
We are a friendly and dedicated team of engineers passionate about solving tricky problems collaboratively. We prioritize continuous learning and innovation, allocating 10% of our time to this. We develop and maintain the firmware of the Intercom products in the Axis portfolio. We prefer working together in smaller teams that include test engineers and sometimes web developers to make sure we can take full ownership for everything we deliver.

What you’ll do here as Embedded Software Developer
Within the same team you can do many different things. You can work close with the electronics engineers with board bring-up, we are responsible for the SIP (VoIP) implementation not just for the Intercoms but for all Axis products using SIP, we work with audio, imaging, RFID, UI and a lot more. Everyone has their area of expertise, but you are encouraged to try out new areas and see what you like the most. We develop new products to complement the portfolio, but we also take care of our released products with maintenance and new features.

Everyone in the team works on their continuous learning and innovation. This is important to us, and time is set aside for it. Maybe you will be the one coming up with a cool new feature for our intercoms, a new area to explore or a more efficient way of working.

Who are you?
We believe you are a team player who challenges the way we work to make sure we learn and improve. While our Linux based platform supports other languages, like C , Rust and Go, most of our code is written in C, so we believe that this is your preferred language. We also believe you have lots of curiosity and love problem solving together with your team. At Axis, we place a high degree of confidence in our engineers, and as one, you'll have a significant impact on the development of our products.

We'd love to hear that you have:

• Working knowledge of C and Embedded Linux

Bonus points for:

• Knowledge of GStreamer, PipeWire, ALSA
• Experience in Git, Yocto/BitBake
• Experience in developing products with either SIP or RFID technologies
