Utility Locate Technician

Essential Goals, Functions and Responsibilities:

• Call in locate tickets to 811 for current projects
• Site walk projects to ensure locates are completed for project to begin
• Document and handle any utility damages that may occur
• Ability to read and interpret utility maps to identify size and type of underground utilities
• Accurately mark the location of underground utilities
• Able to travel up to 4 hours from central location
• Perform work in all weather conditions
• Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark underground utilities within set accuracy limits
• Use a shovel to expose buried utilities when necessary
• Take pictures and document all information required for each locate performed
• Safely operate company vehicle
• Maintain a professional appearance and abide by company dress code
• Maintain a positive working relationship with all parties involved, including but not limited to customers, homeowners and contractors
• Ensure proper maintenance of all equipment used

Qualifications:

• Valid drivers license, including an MVR record that is acceptable by the company.
• Must be able to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screen
• Basic computer knowledge and the ability to use GPS/mapping systems is preferred but not required.
• 3 years of prior locating experience preferred
• Safety oriented

Physical Requirements:

• Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Able to walk up to 5 miles a day in different weather conditions
• Able to use all required personal protective equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour
