Behavioral Health Technician - Residential - SW Regional Crisis Center - Durango, CO

Position Summary: We are seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to provide supportive services and monitor and direct compliance with rules, guidelines, and directives for clients within a 24-hour residential care unit. Participates as a member of the service delivery team to assist with the individual care plans for program clients in accordance with policies, rules, regulations, and directives that apply. May also be asked to provide similar services in other locations as needed.
Behavioral Health Technicians are to make reasonable accommodations to make clients as comfortable as possible during their stay at the facility.
Qualifications: Our ideal candidate for our Behavioral Health Technician position will have a high school diploma or equivalent. A bachelor’s degree and experience in the 12 Step recovery, medical and mental health fields are preferred.
Continued employment in position is contingent upon satisfactory completion of various required trainings and inoculations sequences including but not limited to the following: Hepatitis, Infectious Disease.
Salary: Starting pay is $20.00 (Based pay $17.50 $2.50 Locale Differential = $20.00) and ranges up to $22.60 per hour, which includes a $2.50 locale differential at our Durango worksites and considers preferred experience and preferred education described above.

Physical demands: Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between Axis Health System locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Axis Health System may make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of AA/NA very helpful.
- A high degree of emotional maturity and the ability to maintain a level of courtesy and professional decorum in adverse circumstances.
- Basic counseling skills including the ability to listen without judging, empathizing with the client, and being able to respond appropriately.
- The ability to function at peak performance levels during nighttime hours if required.
- Ability to observe and describe behavior and/or symptomatic changes.
- Ability to seek supervision when needed.
- Need to possess good communication skills and ability to provide constructive feedback to other staff.
- Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and Internet Access.
- Ability to follow established universal precautions and report potential exposure to a communicable disease immediately.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including calculator, copy machine, fax and multi-line telephone. Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes-hectic environment with frequent interruptions.
- Must have current driver’s license and ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with Axis Health System commercial insurance agency.
- Occasional travel required.
- Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
Additional eligibility requirements: Annual Flu immunization, Annual TB screening, CPI training within 90 days of hire, BLS PRO certification required within 90 days of hire
