Job Summary
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the operation and management of their assigned Pharmacy and in the assistance in expansion and development of the Axis pharmacy program. The Pharmacy Manager assists in planning, organizing and implementation of Axis Health System’s pharmacy policies and procedures in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations, 340 B federal regulations and Axis Health System (AHS) policies, The Colorado State Board of Pharmacy, DEA and any other regulatory and accrediting agencies to maintain compliance and the consideration of mandates of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA).
The Pharmacy Manager is a member of the Axis Health Care Team. Under the supervision of the designated Chief Medical Officer, the Pharmacy Manager develops, implements, and oversees a medication management/therapy approach to care, ensures processes meet or exceed regulatory and industry standards and meets requirements of AHS’ contractual relationships with accountable care organizations and other health insurance entities.
Pharmacy Manager is responsible ensuring best practices are engrained in the culture within Axis Health System (AHS). This position creates, implements, maintains and reviews policies and procedures to ensure pharmacy staff the organization’s competencies, training, pharmacy operations (design, data, records and reporting) meet or exceed all state and federal standards across all AHS.
The position identifies and provides problem-solving input, in collaboration with other AHS leadership, ensuring the AHS pharmacy staff maintains high levels of competency, customer service with a focus on patient experience and health outcomes. The position is cross-functional that interfaces and works collectively with Quality, Human Resources and Integrated Primary Care, Dental and Behavioral Health in the delivery of the areas of responsibility. This position is also responsible for the management, reporting and delivery of assigned outcomes in the areas of responsibility and special projects. The Pharmacy Manager provides leadership, direction, clinical oversight, individual effort and work products that respond to identified organizational needs. This position demonstrates and maintains collegial relationships with all staff including clinic staff and management.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel.
- Must regard work as confidential.
- Must have a current driver’s license and the ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with AHS commercial insurance agency.
- Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
- Travel to clinic locations is required.
Physical Demands
Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have the ability to sit for longer periods of time at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between AHS locations and as otherwise necessitated by the functions. Employment is in the healthcare field and there is possible potential exposure to communicable diseases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
