Position Summary: The role of the Psychiatric Assistant is to provide administrative and clinical support to psychiatric providers and their patients in an outpatient setting. Provides high level of customer service in responding to patient questions, implementing effective workflows for psychiatric providers, and providing support to psychiatric providers. In addition, the Psychiatric Assistant provides back up coverage to the front desk/reception operation for the clinic.
Our ideal candidate for our Psychiatric Assistant position will have their high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years experience in an inpatient or outpatient medical setting. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
Salary: Starting at $17.50 - $22.05 per hour (non-exempt - hourly) and considers preferred experience and preferred education described above.

Physical demands: Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between Axis Health System locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. Required Skills:
- Knowledge of mental health medications and mental health diagnoses preferred.
- Knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment including scanner, computer, calculator, copy machine, fax, and multi-line telephone.
- Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and ability to access the internet.
- Ability to be helpful and sensitive to the needs of all employees, while concurrently respecting corporate policies, procedures, and priorities.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
- Ability to communicate job-related information to individuals and small groups.

- Must have current drivers license, qualify for commercial vehicle insurance and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with Axis Health System insurance agency.

- Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
Additional eligibility requirements: Annual Flu immunization, Annual TB screening, CPI training within 90 days of hire, BLS PRO certification required within 90 days of hire.
