Position
AXIS International Academy is seeking a Student Services Specialist to lead high-quality programming for struggling learners and students with exceptional needs. The position will include teaching and management of compliance for special education, gifted and talented programming, 504 plans, and supporting MTSS process and plans.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Instructional Support & Direct Services
· Serve as the case manager for students with IEPs (Individualized Education Program), 504 Plans, (GT – Advanced Learning Plan for students identified as Gifted and Talented), and others as determined by the MTSS team
· Provide direct instruction and support to students with IEPs, ALPs, and other students as identified by the MTSS team based on their needs, and track service minutes accordingly
· Collaborate with general education teachers and interventionists on inclusive practices and differentiation, student goal achievement, and implementation of accommodations/modifications and other plan requirements
· Administer assessments (weekly progress monitoring, benchmarks, formal and informal assessments) and support the school-wide assessment process. Provide and coordinate accommodations/modifications necessary for identified students
· Be a member of the AXIS Crisis Team and maintain CPI certification (Crisis Prevention Institute)
· Stay up to date on policy shifts and best practices in the field and share with AXIS staff.
Team Collaboration, Case Management, and Student Plan Coordination
· Serve as the case manager for students with IEPs (Individualized Education Programs), Section 504 Plans, (GT – Advanced Learning Plan for students identified as Gifted and Talented), Tier 3 MTSS plans, and others as determined by the MTSS team
· Work as part of a team to conduct evaluations and interpret data to determine student eligibility for IEP, ALP or 504 planning.
· Develop, implement, and manage student plans in compliance with authorizer (CSI), state and federal regulations, to include leading a successful annual special education audit conducted by CSI
· Coordinate and facilitate IEP, 504, GT, MTSS, and other student meetings with families, teachers, and service providers as needed.
· Communicate regularly with families about student goals, services, and progress through trimester progress reports and informally in between trimesters.
· Communicate these processes clearly to families and colleagues in presentations, in meetings and in writing
· Maintain accurate, up-to-date plan documentation in the appropriated databases and systems
· Coordinate Student Services team of staff and providers (OT, SLP, DHH, interventionist, school psychologist, school health assistant, and others as determined by student needs) end-to-end for student meetings and team meetings: pre-referral, referral, meeting, meeting follow up, team meetings every 6 weeks and communication at individual level as needed
· Collaborate and support MTSS implementation as part of the MTSS Team

Requirements
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree and valid Special Education Generalist license
· Eligible to work in the US without visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
· Demonstrated ability to lead, collaborate, and manage student support programs
· At least 2 years of experience in special education or related service field
· Familiarity with Core Knowledge, Singapore Math, or immersion models
· Bilingual in English and Spanish or strong interest in bilingual education
· Early Childhood Special Education Endorsement, or willingness to obtain
