Brief Summary:
Responsibilities:
- Works with mechanical repair personnel, operating personnel, and other maintenance personnel to analyze problems and to reduce operating downtime.
- Works closely with operating personnel to solve problems or improve operating equipment.
- Maintains adequate mechanical supplies, equipment, and tools.
- Submits reports concerning condition of equipment and need for repairs or replacement.
- Instructs mechanical repair personnel and other personnel on hazards and mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic safety procedures.
- Reports unsolved problems or changes in equipment or method of operation to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Read pneumatic and hydraulic schematics and resolve troubleshooting.
- Attends schools, classes, meetings, or seminars recommended by or scheduled by management.
- Repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment throughout the plant.
- Performs preventative maintenance to all mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment throughout the plant.
- Assists in size changes where required or requested by operating management.
- Understands and follows company rules and regulations concerning conduct.
- Understands and follows Federal, Local and Company safety rules and regulations.
- Accepts additional responsibility and assignments from management which may not be listed in the job description for this position.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to all mechanical equipment throughout the plant.
- Responsible for completing any assignments given by Supervisor, even those assignments not specifically listed in this job description.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, OR Equivalency Certificate, (GED (General Education Degree))
- Trade School or Industrial Apprenticeship in mechanical or hydraulic trades.
- At least five (5) years’ experience as apprentice or trainee mechanical technician (millwright), hydraulic technician
or mechanical repair helper.
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow job and safety requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, hands to feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
- The employee frequently is required to climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
