- Finishing Line Team Leader

2. Job Summary
- The Team Leader - Finishing is a leadership role overseeing the day-day activities of the slitter department. Perform a variety of tasks such as operating various equipment, filling in for vacancies, maintaining plant housekeeping, and performing routine maintenance on the plant and equipment.
3. Immediate Supervisor
- This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor
4. Standards
- Provide exceptional customer service to all customers, suppliers, and employees.
- Constantly represent Axis Pipe and Tube in a positive and professional manner regardless of customer requests, complaints, or demeanor.
- Comply with Axis’s policies and procedures.
- Interact with other employees in a courteous and professional manner.
- Communicating all matters relating to the work being undertaken and any significant issues to the supervisor.
5. Responsibilities
- Supports Shift Supervisor in maintaining the day-to-day operations.
- Lead daily meetings with crew. Safety chat, review results listed in APTeams board.
- Audits safety compliance. (PPE, guards, uniforms….). Comply with RCA card requirements.
- Assist in training and evaluation of new hires and transfers.
- Communicate and motivate co-workers. Ensure that they have the ability and proper tools to perform their jobs
- Ensures quality procedures are adhered to. Documentation is complete and accurate
- Ensure that product inspection and quality. Reporting is completed correctly.
- Ensure proper reporting of downtime.
- Ensure that resources are effectively used. TPM and other projects are being performed.
- Be proactive in their daily activities. There should be no idle time.
- Identify areas of improvement. Changeover time, safety improvements, potential maintenance risks or operational issues.
- Provides relief and coverage in plant operations as needed.
- Assist with equipment and plant repairs, maintenance, and housekeeping
- Performs inspections of all operations of equipment. Reports any potential issues to supervisor.
- Responsible for completing any assignments given by Supervisor, even those assignments not specifically listed in this job description.
6. Qualifications
- High School Diploma, OR Equivalency Certificate, (GED (General Education Degree), etc.)
- Six Months equivalent experience in related field OR, Proof of training in an area related to the job assignment
- Must be able to read and understand the Procedures and Work Instructions for the position held
- Reasonable knowledge in hand-held measuring devices, micrometers, measuring tapes, go/no-go gauges, grinding, operation of thickness gauges and depth gauges
- Moderate to Advanced PC Skills in Microsoft Applications, i.e., MS Word, Excel
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow job and safety requirements
7. Working Conditions
- This position requires frequent communication, both written and oral.
- The work environment for this position is primarily in a manufacturing plant with loud noise from heavy machinery, grease, and dirt.
- There may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, extreme cold and heat, handling hazardous chemicals, bad odors, dirt, and dust.
- Workers will be required to sit or stand for long periods of time, walk long distances and work in confined spaces.
- Work might involve pushing, pulling, and lifting heavy materials.
- Position requires the use of personal protective equipment.
8. Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, hands to feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
- The employee frequently is required to climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
