Duties and responsibilities
Know Axis Safety Policies and Procedures and be able to relay those to each team member in a way that they can comprehend and understand the purpose behind them.
Build a positive work relationship with the crews assigned to.
Conduct quality crew observation on I Auditor on every crew visited by safety coordinator. When doing the observations, they must be conducted in a way that is of value to the crew and the company.
Train all crews in SC area. Training includes New Hire Training, Rescues training, CPR/First Aid/ AED, Flagger Training, and any other training that the crews might need. The only exception is any training that is tied to a National Certification. It will be taught by third party trainers.
Track all training on assigned crews
Trade out and issue rubber gloves and sleeves. Keep a tracking sheet of rubber goods. That tracks when they were issued and when they need to be changed out.
Investigate incidents that occur by assigned crews. That includes taking witness statements, photographing the scene, preserving any evidence and help come up with root causes and corrective actions.
Build positive relationships with customer representatives (inspectors, safety reps, etc.) so that you are a front-line conduit for communication between the customer and the crews, plus upper management.
Coach and assist crews on capturing Near Misses/ Good Catches. Document these in Auditor and be able to share this information with other crews and upper management.
Be able to coach crews on bad work habits and deliver positive reinforcement on good work habits.
Skills and Qualifications
Recommended
5 years within the electrical utility industry.
Knowledge Of DOT regulations
Safety Certifications (COSS, CUSP)
OSHA 510 and 500
Required
OSHA 30 or equal training.
Active First Aid/CPR certification. ( at least first 90 days )
Proven leadership skills.
Ability to make important decisions under pressure.
