We are seeking an experienced and qualified Project Manager to join our team! The position entails planning, organizing, and directing the completion of specific projects; overseeing private development contracts; proposal writing and budgeting; client liaison/coordination; fieldwork and report writing; managing subordinates; and ensuring high-quality deliverables are submitted on time and within budget.
The ideal candidate will also perform other higher-level managerial duties, such as conducting interviews, HR management, and attending pre-bid meetings.
This position is hybrid and will require occasional fieldwork necessary; therefore, a Southern California-based candidate is preferred.
Requirements:
· B.S. in biology or natural resources with a focus on wildlife biology, avian ecology, botany, or equivalent,
· A smartphone,
· Clean driving record and valid driver’s license with a reliable vehicle,
· Ability to communicate calmly and effectively with diverse groups,
· Willingness to follow detailed safety requirements, and adhering to client-specific safety protocols that may vary,
· Willingness to attend daily or weekly team conference calls, and
· Exceptional accountability for timelines and deliverables (i.e., ability to follow through on agreed upon tasks in a timely manner).
In addition, preference will be given to candidates with the following:
· At least two (2) years of project management experience in the environmental consulting field in Central or Southern California,
· Familiarity with flora and fauna of Central and Southern California,
· Federal or state permits to survey for and handle ESA/CESA-listed species,
· A 4x4 vehicle or consistent/unconditional access to one (does not include all wheel drive vehicles),
· Strong ethics regarding environmental conservation and personal/professional integrity,
· Experience conducting habitat suitability assessments for special-status wildlife species,
· Familiarity with vegetation classification schemes, including Sensitive Natural Communities,
· Experience with common resource mapping hardware/software, and
· Experience with technical writing.
Successful candidates will need to pass pre-employment background and DMV checks to meet safe vehicle operation requirements.
Salary pay range: $60k to $75k, but negotiable based on credentials and experience.
Potential for health benefits after 90 days and 401(k) matching after 1 year.
