Your Impact
As the Principal Security Engineer, you’ll serve as the technical leader of Axon’s Information Security team. You will play a critical role in defining and driving our security strategy while solving diverse and complex technical challenges. Your mentorship will foster the growth of junior team members, ensuring the continued excellence of the team. This position will empower you to make impactful technical decisions that protect our mission to create safer communities.
What You’ll Do
Location: Work from home as much as you want, live nearby any of our awesome US R&D Hubs (Seattle, Scottsdale, San Francisco, Atlanta, or Boston) so you can easily collab in-person when it’s helpful and be an active part of our vibrant Axon culture.

- Serve as the technical leader of the Information Security team, shaping security strategies and decisions.
- Design, implement, and manage advanced security solutions to protect Axon’s systems and data.
- Lead incident response efforts, conducting in-depth technical investigations and remediation activities.
- Evaluate and integrate security tools and technologies to improve security posture and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address diverse technical challenges, including cloud security, application security, and more.
- Mentor junior security engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering their career growth.
- Conduct security assessments, penetration tests, and code reviews to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Drive the adoption of security best practices across development and operational teams.
- Stay ahead of the latest security trends and threat landscapes to proactively protect Axon’s environment.
- Create technical documentation and deliver security training sessions to internal teams.
What You Bring
- 10 years of experience in information security, with significant hands-on experience in technical problem-solving.
- Deep expertise in areas such as cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP), application security, and incident response.
- Proven ability to lead technical projects and make strategic decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong mentoring skills, with a track record of fostering the growth of junior engineers.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate and resolve diverse technical challenges.

Pay Transparency:
The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 177,300 in the lowest geographic market and USD 283,680 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
