Title : Aircraft Mechanic

  • Contingent upon Contract Award

Position Status : Full-Time

Work Schedule : Regular hours are Monday - Friday between the hours of 8 : 00 am - 5 : 00 pm. Employees may need to adjust work hours during surge situations.

At Axxeum, we excel in providing aerospace and defense services, ensuring mission readiness through precision and safety. We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Mechanic I with H-60 helicopter experience to join our team.

Position Overview :

The Aircraft Mechanic I is responsible for servicing, repairing, and overhauling aircraft and engines to ensure airworthiness. Duties cover general, electrical / avionics, and sheet metal maintenance.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Troubleshoot and repair aircraft structures, landing gear, flight controls, anti-icing, hydraulic, engine, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation systems.
  • Repair or replace aircraft structures, including wings, fuselage, rigging, plumbing, and hydraulics using hand and power tools.
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, and engineering specifications.
  • Perform various inspections : 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and calendar-based.
  • Diagnose and repair engine issues, including cracked cylinders, oil leaks, and worn components.
  • Inspect jet engines and turbine blades for cracks, corrosion, burn-out, and security issues.
  • Conduct preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring and aircraft accessories.
  • Supervise jacking and towing operations.
  • Document maintenance tasks per Quality Assurance (QA) and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain and control tools, reporting missing or damaged items immediately.
  • Qualifications :

  • Experience : Minimum 4 years of documented aircraft maintenance experience on DHS / DoD platforms. H-60 experience preferred.
  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Citizenship : U.S. citizenship required.
  • Skills : Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English. Basic computer skills for document preparation and research.
  • Assessments : Candidates must pass a Government-administered Mechanic (General) test before starting work under contract.
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Compliance with DHS / DoD processes and safety protocols.
  • Perform Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walk-downs regularly.
  • Maintain situational awareness to mitigate risks.
  • Use Government computer systems for accessing technical references.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professionalism.
  • This is a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) position and will be attached to the local Union.

    Physical Requirements :

    Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility to include but not limited to : bending, reaching, climbing, turning, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. Walking moderate to long distances may be required. Must be able to lift / carry / push / pull / move items frequently over 20 pounds. Occasionally required to lift / carry / push / pull / move heavy objects up to 50 pounds.

    Work Environment :

    The environmental characteristic for this position is an aircraft hangar, warehouse setting, office setting and / or outdoors. Candidates should be able to adapt to environments listed. There may be momentary exposure to high noises, exposure to chemicals and cleaning agents, and Personal Protection Equipment may be required for certain tasks. This position requires being able to work comfortably outdoors and may be exposed to hot / cold, wet / humid, and dry / arid conditions.
