Brief Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Painter to join our team in Huntsville, AL. The Aircraft Painter will be responsible for preparing and applying paint, coatings, and other finishes to aircraft and related components. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to industry and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, and priming.
- Mix and apply paint, coatings, and other finishes according to technical specifications.
- Maintain paint equipment, mix paint, paint control.
- Use spray guns and other equipment to apply coatings with precision.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, company standards, and customer requirements.
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality and make necessary touch-ups.
- Maintain and clean painting equipment and work areas.
- Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work collaboratively with technicians and other team members to meet project deadlines.
- Performs other tasks as needed
Requirements
- Proficiency in spray painting techniques, masking, and surface preparation.
- Proficiency in using spray guns and other application tools to apply paint evenly and smoothly.
- Knowledge of preparing aircraft exteriors and panels for proper paint application.
- Understanding the use, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials used in aircraft painting.
- Familiarity with various paints, finishes, and paint removers used in aircraft painting is crucial.
- Attention to detail to ensure a high-quality paint job and identify any imperfections.
- Previous experience in aircraft painting, automotive body work, or industrial painting is preferred.
- Understanding of FAA regulations and aerospace coatings is a plus.
- Must have strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to prioritize work
- Must be detail oriented with good analytical skills and ability to handle multiple tasks independently
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Must have attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Must demonstrate positive, polite, and professional behavior at all times when dealing with co-workers, customers, and all levels of management
- Must have the ability to communicate using clear, concise, and accurate English; both verbal and written are required.
Physical Requirements:
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility to include but not limited to: bending, reaching, climbing, turning, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. Must be able to lift, move, and transport items frequently over 10 pounds.
Work Environment:
Generally, work is conducted in an inside office environment, but may also involve some outside work depending on the task. The inside environment may be in an office or cubicle with close quarters, low to moderate noise, and bright or dim lighting. Outside work may include various environmental conditions including warm and cold climates and while on travel.
