Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide prompt and comprehensive medical care to patients experiencing emergencies and acute illnesses in the emergency department. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting thorough patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Diagnosing and stabilizing patients with life-threatening conditions.
- Developing and implementing treatment plans for various acute medical and surgical emergencies.
- Performing emergency procedures such as suturing, wound care, and splinting as needed.
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, CT scans) to guide treatment decisions.
- Prescribing medications and managing pain effectively.
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
- Documenting patient care accurately and thoroughly in the medical record.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification in emergency, internal, or family medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), the American Board of Family Medicine, or the AOA.
- Active and unrestricted medical license in Florida.
